We have had a variety of request for project management support from all facets of bussiness. Sales management wanted Activity Based Costing to work out the exact cost of sales. Service management, wanted the same, to calculate the profitabiltity or lack of it of their maintenance contracts. 

For Project managers the need is even more obvious. So we decided to build a generic tool allowing companies to determine themselves for wich department in their organisation they required Project management. In TimeManager projects can be defined, budgetted and tracked. Per project phases, tasks and activities can be optionally defined dependig on the complexity of the project.
